Website for composer/pianist Neal Kirkwood

3/22/2021 Updates

News of the day- my new solo piano recording, “Welcome to My Dream,” interpretations of songs by Jimmy Van Heusen, Burton Lane, Frank Loesser and Richard Rodgers, will be available March 26th.

I've been adding scores to the store page- now there are 3 big band charts, plus vocal and chamber music.  As I add more scores I will organize into more specific catagorioes.  A work in progress!

You can watch a performance of my composition Three Easy Pieces for Hard Times perfromed by my student Jackie Ramirez here https://fb.watch/44L6UNDPTa/

I have just finished mastering a recording of my “Three Dances for Four Hands” which I recorded with Tim Harrison at Oktaven Studio. You can find selected tracks on my Soundcloud page.

Five Pentanonic Studies for Vibraphone and Guitar was composed for the father/son duo of David and JP Moreno. Here is a video of them playing Study #1.

I’ve composed a new piece for my Blue Inventions Trio; a song cycle for children’s chorus set to translations of Chinese poems by Kenneth Rexroth; and music for piano left hand alone, including an original Sonatina and arrangements of jazz standards. Also catching up on some earlier compositions. Stay tuned for updates.

Stay safe and well! Please feel free to contact me with questions and comments.

Hi friends. Crazy times! I’ve been staying busy this past year. No gigs, but keeping an active teaching schedule, composing, and working to make my music available to you, both for listening and performance.

This new website is part of the process. You can find my recordings and scores here, many available for the first time. This will be an ongoing project as I catalog and share my work.

My new solo piano recording, “Welcome to My Dream,” interpretations of songs by Jimmy Van Heusen, Burton Lane, Frank Loesser and Richard Rodgers, will be released in March.
